Documenting California Since 2001

California

Could have passed a legislative amendment (AB43), and could have voted for same-sex marriage (Prop 8) but chose to wait until the U.S. Supreme Court had to call them out on discrimination.

In 2007, Governor Schwartzenegger could have signed AB43 to legalize same-sex marriage in California, but - despite knowing it was wrong - he did not.

In 2008, California voters could have defeated Proposition 8, an evil proposition to same-sex marriage in California, but - after spending tons of money - they did not.

California had to wait for a spanking from the courts to drag them into the 21st Century. That was sad and unnecessary.
