Documenting Sean Fieler Since 2001

Sean Fieler

Fieler is the leading funder of groups that target trans, lesbian and gay Americans. He and his opposite-sex wife, Ana Fieler, have spent close to $100 million to generate bad science and advertise intolerance.

“Sean Fieler is a good man,” wrote Brian Brown, president of the National Organization for Marriage. “An investor and philanthropist, he supports ... NOM's work to protect marriage.” This is not a good group, this is not a good man. He is a hateful ball of tar who seems to take joy in making other people miserable. As president of the hedge fund Equinox Partners and the Kuroto Fund, he has plenty of money to do harm. As other Opponents of Equality have died off or had a change of heart, Fieler has persisted.

He says that gay marriage “promotes a very harmful myth about the gay lifestyle” because “it suggests that gay relationships lend themselves to monogamy, stability, health and parenting in the same way heterosexual relationships do.” Anybody who has the brains God gave geese knows this is a flat-out lie, which means that Fieler is either delusional, or has an ulterior motive for talking smack about his family, friends and neighbors. Past ulterior motives I have encountered before are financial gain, political power, or throwing a smokescreen about personal sexual preferences or sexual abuses. At an estimated $50 million, that's a pretty big smokescreen, and an awfully big shadow of misery.
